Jennifer Purvis expressed her love of life through her art. All of the artwork in this book is taken from the drawings she did in the last six months of her short but beautiful life. Jennifer died from cystic fibrosis in 1985 at the age of twelve.

Jennifer’s mother, Joan, has written this delightful story to reflect the optimism and spirit of her daughter’s life and art. In Little Bear Learns to Fly, she brings Jen’s images alive to tell a story that will inspire children to discover the unique talents and qualities within themselves. An experienced teacher and writer, Joan has authored a pre-school and elementary grades curriculum as well as a children’s television series based on the characters and themes in Little Bear Learns to Fly.
